The Omicron variant driven wave of COVID-19 will likely subside by March, said some public health experts.
Anurag Agrawal, chair of the World Health Organization (WHO)′s technical advisory group on SARS-CoV-2 virus evolution, said that the spread should be way faster than Delta. Over the past few days, there has been a sharp rise in cases. Considering Omicron′s rapid spread, experts opine that the threat level is very high at present, particularly in regions with low immunity in the population.
The weekly positivity rate in India stood at around 10.80% and the daily positivity rate at 13.11%, as reported on Friday. Agrawal said that despite the fact that India is a large country, he expects this wave to abate by March.
